*Thanks Jim Byrne The increase in the federal cigarette tax from 39 cents a pack to $1.01 a pack is a result of the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, enacted Feb. 4. The tax increase is to pay for an expansion of health care benefits for low-income children.
