“Six years ago today we felt the sting of war on our soil for the first time in a long while. And, unlike other wars, this sting was directly aimed at our citizens, not our soldiers. We are still, in many ways, reeling from 9/11. And some are still trying to define terrorism like a traditional war. On this anniversary, perhaps we can all take a moment to find the common ground we felt that afternoon. Our emotions, our hate and anger, were directed not at each other, but at whoever committed the horrible acts we witnessed. Our resolve was united to do what it takes to stop such acts.
