WGNU, the legendary station founded by the Late Chuck Norman has been sold. According to this press release from STLmedia.net, the change in ownership will occur later this year. The station has hosted such diverse hosts as race baiters Lizz Brown, Onion Horton, and Gordon Baum – founder of the Council of Conservative Citizens – to Dr. Laura Schlessinger and the “Fabulous Sports Babe.”
Mr. Norman is said to have not made much money from the small station, Norman made his money earlier in his life when he sold a FM station in the 70’s. The man who lived down the hall from his broadcast studios, purely enjoyed talk radio and the forum it gave ordinary citizens. According to this story in the Riverfront Times, the attorney for the Norman Estate is missing along with much of the reported $10 million estate. It will be a great loss if the new owners change the station’s format. If they do, start boning up on your Spanish and your Cha Cha dancing.
