We told you earlier this month about “No Way Jay’s” sneaky attempt to put St. Louis Democrat Marjorie Melton in the Republican seat on the state Transportation Commission. Ms. Melton, the former President of the St. Louis City Board of Public Service, was dismissed earlier this year by St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay.
As a follow up to this story, sources tell us that Ms. Melton told the Governor’s Office that Paula Smith, former Director of the Missouri Department of Labor under Governor Kit Bond and Assistant Secretary of Labor under President Reagan, was supporting her candidacy for the Transportation Commission.
We’re told thart Ms. Smith sent a message to the Governor’s Office stating she is not supporting anyone. At this point, We guess the Governor’s Office is in a holding pattern.
