“She’s no lap dog: McCaskill rips Obama” Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist (June 17, 2009 – 7:42pm)
Looks like Sen. McCaskill got a call from the White House yesterday. How else do you explain this complete 180 from the day before?
“Last night, in response to my request for adequate information on the firing of Inspector General for the Corporation for National and Community Service Gerald Walpin, the White House submitted a letter to Senators Lieberman and Collins that now puts the White House in full compliance with the notice requirement in the law.”
We warned Sen. McCaskill yesterday about tangling with the Chicago Mafia that is currently running the White House. Did she get an “offer she couldn’t refuse” yesterday from chief of staff Rahm Emanuel? In the less than 24 hours that have elapsed since Claire was “deeply concerned” about the illegal firing of ACORN’s Americorps’ Inspector General, when did the fact change that the fired IG was not given the mandatory 30 day cooling off period before he was terminated?
In a story in Obama’s hometown newspaper, Senator Grassley of Iowa is investigating the firing of two more Inspectors General by the Administration. We’ll be curious to see if Sen. McCaskill joins Sen. Grassley in calling for an investigation of these firings.
