Reaper of the House Blames Self for Lack of Party Discipline

House Speaker Rod Jetton (R, Marble Hill) partially blamed his lame-duck status for the breakdown in discipline.

“(Representatives) get up here, they get cozy, they make friends, they have allies, things change, they have different agendas, they’re running for Senate, they’re doing a lot of things, and it makes it a little harder to keep everybody on the same sheet of music, or everybody’s not on the same sheet of music,” Jetton said.  Read more…

Uhhh Mr. Speaker. Throw in that you ARE a lame duck, we would think it would be even more difficult to keep party discipline when you yourself are “getting cozy” and “making new friends and allies” at the Capitol for your new consulting practice. Especially while your day job as Speaker is in the way. Hey, we almost forgot the state senate campaign you’re running too. We tip our hat to you Mr. Speaker, you’re one hell of a multi-tasker – except in this case.
