Congressional candidates Kay Barnes and Judy Baker are holding a joint fundraiser on March 29th at a home outside either of their districts. For Barnes, taking Ward Parkway money is nothing new. It is, after all, where she lived for most of her adult life (despite her recent “rural roots” claims.) For Baker, who is running for a seat in mid-Missouri, coming to Kansas City for campaign money is a big stretch.
The event, billed as “Tea for Two,” is being headlined by the Missouri Women’s Leadership Coalition, an umbrella group that counts among its members groups like Missouri NOW, Missourians for Choice, and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Kansas & Mid-Missouri. On their website MWLC says they do not “endorse candidates or work in elections.” This fundraiser would seem to contradict that statement. Baker is listed as an advisor on the website. Read more…
