Last week, we commented how unusual it was that Senator Bond was willing to throw his relative under the bus after it was revealed that she praised and awarded a white employee’s blackface Halloween costume. This is what Bond had to say about the matter last week:

“The way things are going, we may not ever vote on her nomination. Our nation’s immigration enforcement agency needs non-controversial leadership. That would be best served by going in a different direction with this nomination.”

This is what he had to say in a statement released today:

“Julie Myers and those involved at ICE made a serious mistake in judgment, but she apologized, took corrective action, and now has the support and confidence of the Association of African Americans in the Department of Homeland Security as well as senior leadership.” Read more…

Its amazing how a little turkey, dressing, and fellowship with the relatives can change one’s mind so quicky.

The Association of African Americans in the Department of Homeland Security???? Give us a break! Is this an organization that was formed a few weeks ago just to save Myers?
