Rep. William Lacy Clay (D., Mo.) disbursed nearly $30,000 of his campaign funds to a law firm owned by his sister during the first quarter, Federal Election Commission records show. Clay’s campaign committee, Clay Jr. for Congress, spent over $47,000 in the first quarter of 2017, which runs from Jan. 1 to March 31. A bulk of the money disbursed by his campaign went to the Law Office of Michelle C. Clay, LLC, a Silver Spring, Md.-based firm that is owned by his sister. Michelle Clay has been paid $27,000 this year so far, accounting for 56 percent of all his campaign expenditures during the 2018 cycle so far. Read more…
