The St. Louis Post Dispatch gave their lukewarm endorsement to current St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley today with the headline: “Let Charlie Do it.” After endorsing “moderate” Republican John Lamping earlier in the week, most political observers expected the chances of a second Republican endorsement from them to be slim to none. Check out a few excerpts from their “endorsement.”
“We recommend that voters re-elect Democrat Charlie A. Dooley as county executive. We do so with some reservations”
“After 20 years, things have become a little calcified at the county government center. Republican Bill Corrigan, 51, Mr. Dooley’s challenger, would shake things up — not a bad idea.”
“If he is re-elected Mr. Dooley, 62, needs to bring some new blood and new ideas into his administration. He should cleanly separate politics from policy makers. And he should be an even stronger regional leader, particularly in matters affecting the Metro East.”
These quotes really do reflect how out of touch the Post Dispatch and the liberals are with the American people. We don’t want shakeups within the old guard, we want a NEW guard. We believe that a majority of St. Louis County voters on November 2nd will demonstrate to Mr. Dooley – and the Post Dispatch – that Dooley has done quite enough to them already.
