STL County Executive Dooley reacts to a reporter’s question last week regarding his consiglieri and campaign manager John Temporiti.

St. Louis County Councilman Greg Quinn, a frequent critic of County Executive Charlie Dooley, held a press conference yesterday claiming that he found a “gaping loophole” in Mr. Dooley’s recently released ethics code. The Political Fix appropriately titled their piece: “Quinn alleges a Temporiti “loophole” in Dooley ethics code.”

Political Fix:

Quinn brought up allegations that have been raised previously against Temporiti. They included claims that Temporiti used his relationship with Dooley to influence the awarding of contracts for the trash districts that were established in 2008; that he pressed county officials to give a printing contract to his son; and that he lobbied county officials on behalf of private parties while working on Dooley’s campaigns.

In an interview with the Post-Dispatch last year, Temporiti acknowledged having lobbied private parties while working for Dooley’s campaign. He said that his efforts on behalf of his clients were above board.

“I have never told a client that I have Charlie’s ear,” he said at the time.

How stupid do these insider elitists think we are?
