Yesterday, a restraining order went into effect against the Missourians for Fair and Impartial Courts Action Fund, an organization funded by trial attorneys opposed to judicial elections. The restraining order was granted after complaints that a “blocking” company hired by the action fund had been intimidating voters and harassing petitioners collecting signatures for an initiative that would replace the Missouri Nonpartisan Court Plan with direct election of judges. A hearing for a full restraining order is scheduled for April 26th. Score one for direct democracy!
