Tweet last Friday night from KFVS-TV sports reporter Tyler Profilet: “Randomly ran into US House candidate Tommy Sowers (D) @sowers working late and campaigning in Poplar Bluf.”
Scott Faughn, a former mayor of Poplar Bluff who has a well-known man-crush on “Hot Rod” Jetton, was seen last week escorting Tommy Sowers around the district. Several sources say Faughn was with Sowers in the bar where Profilet snapped his picture.
Yesterday, Sowers’ newest advocate was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to drive with a valid license, failure to register a motor vehicle, and failure to provide valid insurance on a vehicle, looking remarkably cheery while posing for his Butler County mug shot.
Those of you who follow the news in the Poplar Bluff area know that this isn’t Scott Faughn’s first run-in with the law – in 2007, he was found guilty of forgery after he was accused of taking money from a highway expansion fund and directing it to his personal bank account.
A convicted felon and corrupt politician is an interesting choice for a political ally. It certainly shows that campaign mastermind David Woodruff doesn’t have a clue when it comes to running a campaign.
