“Our government is wasting money on bad planning when we could be saving money with coverage that makes sense. We’re wasting $5,000 at the emergency room when a five-dollar prescription the week before could have prevented the problem. That must change, and I know how to do it.”
Representative Rebecca McClanahan, D-Kirksville, missed yesterday’s vote on HCR18, a resolution which urged Missouri’s congressional delegation to vote against the Pelosi/Obama health care bill. Was she avoiding putting her opinion on record?
McClanahan was the only out-state Democrat not to vote to express her disapproval of the health care proposal due to her absence. Was she trying to keep this from becoming a campaign issue by taking a day “absent with leave”?
If her absence was only a way to avoid putting her opinion on record, she should be ashamed of herself. Her constituents have a right to know where she stands on all of the issues, not just the ones that make her reelection prospects safe.

Rumor has it that the DCCC is trying to recruit her to run against Blaine… maybe thats why she skipped the vote

I have heard that rumor as well. She is going to have a hard time getting re-elected in the 2nd District. There is a 25 year old Republican that just returned from serving 6.5 years in the military running against her.
