Isn’t there something a tad bit suspicious when your chief of staff’s private business is across the hall from your official office?

An online reader of stlamerican.com, upset that we had anything nice to say about Chris Koster, asked if we had looked into the $15K Koster paid Darryl Piggee, chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay, a short time before Clay endorsed Koster. So we looked into it.
On June 20, 2008, the Koster campaign paid $15,000 to Entelechy LLC for “polling.” Piggee was the original registered agent of Entelechy, according to Missouri records, but that role was later turned over to Sherry R. Faulkner, who is listed as Piggee’s spouse in federal travel documents from 2007. Both Piggee and Faulkner are listed as Clay staffers on his congressional website.
You can draw from this any number of conclusions. Spreading street money around is a time-honored and effective way to win allies and endorsements. Pretty? No. Politics as usual? Yes. Read more….
