An impatient Tommy Sowers wishes he were already in Congress so he could join the liberal wing of the Democrat Party in support of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s $1.3 trillion health care bill, according to the Southeast Missourian.
The bill would punish Americans who don’t obtain health insurance with maximum fines of $250,000 and up to five years in prison. 114 million Americans could be forced out of their private health care coverage and onto the government plan. And the plan would grow the federal government by tens of thousands of bureaucrats with unprecedented powers to regulate Americans’ health care.
In the article, Sowers also takes the time to puff out his chest about how he and Nancy P. will bring jobs to Missouri. Never mind that their idea of health care would cost 5.5 million American jobs in ten years, according to an assessment by a former Council of Economic Advisors Chairperson. Some economic plan.
Ever the military man, Sowers’ jobs plan has two prongs. After killing 5.5 million American jobs with health care “reform,” he will wait until after Election Day to tell us how he feels about energy taxes and cap-and-tax. There’s another 1,000,000 jobs lost per year. Yep, Tommy Two-Tones sounds like the perfect member of Congress to us — too bad San Francisco already has a Democrat just like him.
Thanks, Tommy, for telling the Southeast Missourian’s readers that they are welcome to hold him accountable in November 2010. We don’t need to wait that long. It’s a year before your first election, and you get an F already. It takes more than San Francisco values and Wall Street money to impress us here in Missouri.
Democrats in our state can do better, can’t they?
