Quote of the Day “I’m Amused at How People Think They’re Being Targeted”

September 15th, 2009 by mopns · No Comments

ChadLivengood via Twitter: “GOP Rep. Kenny Jones, a fmr. sheriff & highway patrolman, on MIAC paranoia: “I’m amused at how people think they’re being targeted.”

“Rep. Kenny Jones says people shouldn’t be able to call MIAC & see if they’re on a “list.” I just don’t think that’s a very good idea.”

I hope Rep. Jones’ name doesn’t end up on the terrorist watch list. 20,000 new names are added to the terrorist watch list EVERY SINGLE MONTH and 38% of them contain errors. Ken Jones is a fairly common name, so it’s only a matter of time.

If that happens, Rep. Jones will find out that it takes an average of 67 days to clear his name. I hope he has 67 days to be detained at every turn or simply sit in jail.

It does not matter if you’ve done anything wrong.

For what it’s worth, I got a telemarketing call from The Missouri Deputy Sheriff’s Association (or some such name) and gave the telemarketer a response he’s apparently heard before in one form or another: “I’m one of those people whose bumper stickers indicate, according to the MIAC report, they are apt to be a terrorist.” (Actually, that’s not quite true at the moment. The lone bumper sticker is old and largely unreadable. This must be corrected.)

He gave enough of his response that I could tell they’ve heard it far too many times, but I hung up on him before he could deliver the rest.
