Where is Gov. Nixon on Cap and Trade?

July 22nd, 2009 by mopns · No Comments

Why hasn’t Governor Nixon stepped up to defend Missouri from the costly and largely pointless cap and trade program that Congressional liberals are trying to force upon America? After all, Missouri will be very heavily impacted by this legislation – our state relies on coal-powered plants for 85% of our electricity. Energy prices will go up dramatically as our state’s coal plants must pay to buy credits from cleaner power plants in other states, hurting rural or low-income Missourians the most.

The state’s economy is bad enough as it is. We don’t need Potomac Flu-stricken liberals digging us into a bigger hole by imposing a massive cost increase on energy production – an increase that will be taken out of the pockets of hard-working Missourians. Cap and trade will do nothing but give liberals something warm and fuzzy to write home about while making the average person search for something warm and fuzzy in the winter instead of turning on their heater, lest they spend a fortune on their electricity bill.

Missouri simply cannot afford cap and trade and Governor Nixon has a duty to tell the radicals in Washington where they can put their expensive proposal. We don’t need it and we sure as heck don’t want it.
