That quote is from the very partisan Democratic blog, The Arch City Chronicle. While Jay is watching his right flank due to the MIAC controversy, it seems he better be watching his left side too.

Rural Democrats and Jeff City Democrats cite several other concerns: staffing shortage means communications with Democrats across the state has dwindled; fewer workers means less understanding of the state; and questions whether the Party will have the capacity to use nationally contributions aimed at fostering a competitive environment for the Carnahan-Blunt Senate contest.

Ominously for Nixon, one long-time Democrat described the feelings as stronger than grumbling and said that there were factions that were almost mutinous.  He wonders if there might be a “piling on” Nixon should the governor stumble in the future.  In other words, Nixon has more enemies than he may realize.” Read more…

For a governor who is already not popular with the most loyal segment of the Democrat Party, (African Americans) “No Way Jay” can ill afford to piss off his rural base.
