MO Highway Patrol: “Pro-Lifers, Anti-Tax Activists, Ron Paul Supporters; Potential Domestic Trouble Makers”

Disturbing email we received over the weekend from a reader. And of course, the mainstream media is ignoring this controversy:

Hi Scooter,

You’ve probably already seen this by now – but I’m attaching some internal documents from the MO Information Analysis Center, anyway. They were apparently leaked by an officer (I can’t confirm that – I don’t know who leaked them). Unfortunately, these have checked out to be real.

The document is spot-on in some areas when it comes to identifying potential domestic trouble makers but then lumps together pro-lifers, anti-tax activists, those of us who backed Bob Barr for President (along with supporters of Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin) into the same category as racist militia members and white supremacists. It also warns against people who oppose some of President Obama’s initiatives.

The bottom line is that some parts of this document label people potentially dangerous because of right-leaning/conservative views on abortion, taxes and such. Those who backed a candidate from outside the two major parties are being labeled by our own state government as potential violent militia members.

The ignorance in this would be funny if it were not so dangerous.

Look at page three – see how a gun/2nd Amendment voter is casually lumped in the same paragraph as a white nationalist.

Page four addresses people who oppose the President’s universal service idea.

At the very top of page 5 – it is implied that those who oppose abortion could become dangerous because of the actions of a few zealot nutcases. Right below that, the document warns about those who oppose federal income taxes and illegal immigration.

The top of page six is especially troublesome. I’ll let it speak for itself as it tries to identify possible “militia” members.

This document does, to its credit, deal with some people who are dangerous. Lumping those who simply have dissenting political opinions in with the truly dangerous not only flies in the face of personal freedom, it weakens efforts to stop real threats to society and government.

Do you think there’s a story here? I’ve seen Tony’s Kansas City run a link to this but I haven’t seen any mainstream media coverage of it. Some state representatives are already promising to look into this.

Hey! How come I’m not on the list?

There was a story about it in the Columbia Tribune this past Saturday.

    Our bad.

No problem. It was Saturday’s edition. The only reason I knew about the story was that I happen to get the weekend editions of the paper.

It’s appalling if the Columbia Trib is the only “mainstream newspaper” that has reported on it. This report really needs to be looked into, whether by journalists or state legislators.

There was an article in the St Joseph Newspress on Sunday.

My honest and humble suggestion is that we not over-analyze this.

I think all it is is a feeble attempt on the part of a government agency examining terrorism to CYA and to show the world that they’re not just picking on Arabs, that they’re really looking at white people, too. I know that most of this stuff is outdated, fatuous BS, and it’s actually good strategy — there are no right-wing militias who will sue you for slandering them, similar to slandering a dodo bird. However, the CAIR can and does sue, see the Flying Imams scandal from Minneapolis.

And up until now, I had never heard of this Missouri Information Analysis Center.

Jay Nixon’s name is on the report, I doubt his fingerprints are on it other than he just happened to be Governor when this report was prepared. But if he does have something to do with it, it would be so ironic. One word: Deseg. Nixon was the only Missouri statewide elected politician ever to come out against deseg in a substantial way and do something about it in the process. That would make him the same kind of right wing retrograde that this report complains about.

I don’t think the real cops in MO are going to take this seriously, as again I think it’s CYA to avoid charges of “racism.”

Being one of those domestic trouble makers targeted, a Libertarian candidate with a Bob Barr for President sticker, I have more than a little interest in this problem. MIAC and the MoSHP are stonewalling on this report. The Libertarian party has requested an opportunity to speak with them openly and discuss modifying the report. MIAC refuses and stands by the report.

One of the justifications they give is the assertion that MoSHP officers have been killed by Militia members. However, the MOSHP web site has a section on each death in the line of service – there are 27- and none is at the hands of a militia member.

Personally, I am neither a supporter or detractor of the militia movement, but this report sets up members for persecution and then extends the radical brush to folks who have the temerity to oppose abortion, stem cell research, or (god help us) the north american union and the establishment of a new world order. Well, me and mine support the OWO- old world order.

If you have not read the report read it! It is tripe, but dangerous wildly liberal tripe.
