Last week week, Greene Countians Against Question 1 launched their website “www.StopQuestion1.com.”  The coalition seeks to warn its citizens that their right to choose their judges will be taken away by trial attorneys if Question 1 passes this November 4th.

Governor Matt Blunt has stated his opposition to Question 1.  In an interview to KY3 News, he stated, “I think people benefit…when they’re able to elect their own officials, and I don’t think that Greene County should give up their right to elect their judges…I’m opposed.” Sarah Steelman and Kenny Hulshof have also expressed their strong opposition to the Missouri Plan.

Larry Russell, Treasurer for Greene Countians Against Question 1 and past President of the Missouri Republican Assembly stressed, “Greene Countians have been electing judges for decades, and it works for us, so I don’t see any reason to import the problems of St. Louis and Kansas City just because some rich trial lawyers would rather pick judges themselves.”
