Now that we’re in the dog days of summer – and the political season too – FiredUp Missouri is once again defending it’s favorite ethically challenged, lame duck Speaker:
“Republican regulars were clucking last week about a slew of “brown envelopes” delivered anonymously to dozens of GOP incumbents and candidates for state office. Those communiques were focused squarely at discouraging GOP candidates from hiring outgoing Speaker and paid political strategist Rod Jetton to assist in their campaigns.
There’s plenty of open speculation about The Source of these attacks, but the bulk of the betting money seems to be with the prominent Republican operative from southeast Missouri rather than the well-known hack from the state’s opposite corner.
First off, Rod Jetton has – and has made – PLENTY of enemies (both Republican & Democrat) while occupying the Speaker’s chair; to focus on Barklage or Roe as the source of these “attacks” sounds to us like Rowdy Rod is still in the business of leaking to the Democrat hack blog. After clients Onder and Loudon were routed earlier this month – and the poor showing by Mitt Romney in the Missouri primary – maybe Rowdy should be putting his efforts to trying to win races, instead of having FUM stand up for him.

So we stand on the verge of losing the governor’s mansion and other statewide offices.
2 congressional seats and our legislative majorities are in jeopardy. What are our best and brightest concentrating on? Fighting with each other in an attempt to justify their inflated price tags and statisfy their overblown egos.
