Mr. Hassan is the father of former state representative Yaphett El-Amin. Ms. El-Amin was a secret consultant for Chris Koster until we revealed it back in May. From the St. Louis Business Journal:
The president of MOKAN pleaded guilty Friday to filing false tax returns involving money he received for consulting with minority-owned businesses and monitoring minority participation in construction contracts in the City of St. Louis, U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said.
Eddie Hasan, 46, of St. Louis, admitted that he failed to report income from MOKAN and other sources of approximately $470,144 from 2001 to 2005, leaving tax due of about $105,996, Hanaway said.
He pleaded guilty to one felony count of filing a false tax return and now faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines. His sentencing is slated for Oct. 15. Read more…
