The Steelman campaign is out with a press release today slamming Congressman Hulshof’s 10 day “business tour” and his support for Matricula Identification cards.
“Desperate to divert attention from his record as a career reckless Washington spender, Congressman Kenny Hulshof is the midst of tour talking about helping businesses. What Congressman Hulshof has no doubt failed to share is his record of helping businesses south of the United States border in Mexico.”
The Steelman release called Hulshof a “strident supporter in Congress of allowing dangerous Mexican tractor-trailer trucks to travel across U.S. roadways.” Congressman Hulshof supported the controversial Matricula consular identification card that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) deemed dangerous to Homeland Security efforts and ensures and encourages more illegal immigrants to take jobs from U.S. citizens.
From the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) website:
“The cards–two million of which have been issued in the last two years have drawn heated criticism because they are issued to illegal aliens who cannot access U.S.-issued identity documents. Because consular ID cards are only needed by people who aren’t legally in the U.S. in the first place, communities and businesses that accept the cards as valid ID are undermining immigration enforcement and compromising U.S. security.”
The FBI and the Department of Justice say that the cards are not a reliable form of identification and pose “major criminal threats” and a “potential terrorist threat.”
The press release continues:
“Congressman Hulshof owes Missouri workers an apology for putting Mexican businesses and illegal immigrants ahead of them and their families,” said Sarah Steelman spokesman Spence Jackson. “Allowing bogus identification cards to be accepted in the United States and unsafe trucks to travel across our roads is irresponsible.”
Hulshof voted to allow the Matricula consular card to be accepted in 2004. The Assistant Director of the FBI’s office of Intelligence said illegal aliens are using the card for the purposes of “opening bank accounts, gaining access to federal facilities, boarding airplanes and obtaining state driver’s licenses.” The Department of Justice and the FBI have concluded that the Matricula consular identification card is not a reliable form of identification, due to the non-existence of any means of verifying the true identity of the cardholder.
In June 2001, Hulshof voted against an amendment that would have barred Mexican trucks from traveling on U.S. roadways. The U.S. Department of Transportation said inspectors estimate that 40 percent of the Mexican trucks allowed on U.S highways have been pulled out of service for safety violations.

All Steelman knows how to do is sling mud. Wish she would focus on her vision for MO but then maybe she doesn’t have one.

Boo Hoo
Steelman keeps picking on me. I know she’s telling the truth, but does Steelman need to be so truthful, so often? Can’t we just avoid my wrongdoings, like most politicians do?
Next thing you know, she’ll be talking about how my failure as a prosecutor put a rapist on the streets. It’s true, but why does she need to let the voters know?
Why won’t Steelman just let them see that I come across as a nice guy?
So what if I helped to put people innocent people in prison for my own personal gain? It worked; didn’t it? I got elected to Congress before anyone found out. Can’t we just keep that part of my life quiet?
Will Steelman shut up about the ethanol mandate? Does she know how much money repealing the mandate could cost me?
I sure hope I can get some votes from the people that like it when I whine.
