With the virtues of hard work, faith, and a good upbringing, Mr. Hulshof has come a long way from those days of growing up on the farm in southeast Missouri!

Even as he’s got his eye on the governor’s mansion, Rep. Kenny Hulshof is dabbling in another business: wine seller.
Last year, Hulshof and his wife, Renee, bought the right to become wine wholesalers from a small vineyard they frequent in Napa Valley, Calif.
The Republican congressman bought 25 cases of a California cabernet and started his own label — Bingham Road Cellars, named after the street he lives on in Columbia.
“They’ve got the label pending with California regulators,” said his chief of staff, Erik Rasmussen. Hulshof is now checking Missouri distribution laws to see if he can resell the wine, possibly to local stores.

“If not, he bought 25 cases of wine for their own personal wine cellar,” Rasmussen said.
He said the wine cost the Hulshofs about $3,000, and they bought it from friends in California, where they vacation frequently.
Hulshof’s fledging wine business was among the details revealed in area House members’ financial disclosure forms, released today. Read more….
