Peter Kinder continues to solidify his reputation as a Republican that really cares about Missouri’s urban communities.
Now, we’re not talking about the kind of pandering we see from the likes of Jay Boy Nixon and some of his “we make promises every four years for your vote then do nothing” Democrats.
Instead, we’re talking about consistently following through on promises through equal doses of humility and sincerity.
Just look at Kinder’s receipt yesterday of the “Visionary Award” from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Missouri at the end of the group’s national meeting in St. Louis.
The award recognized Kinder’s work on the Amachi Missouri Program and for his leadership in the Missouri Mentoring Initiative.
For those of you who don’t know, the Amachi Program that specifically assists Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Missouri to mentor children whose parents are incarcerated in Missouri prisons.
Just as impressive is the Missouri Mentor Initiative which encourages state employees to mentor children by receiving up to 40 hours a year in paid time off to volunteer.
In light of Kinder’s constant commitment to urban Missouri, somebody better tell Democrats that real results go a long way in forming lasting and binding relationships.
In other words, Kinder has earned people’s trust and respect, which is rare in Missouri politics, regardless of party.

Hey kid, you don’t need healthcare, you need a mentor. I know of an expensive bike race you can go to in the burbs, so you can escape the your neighborhood I’ve sponsored bulldozing for a little while.
