The St. Louis Post Dispatch today is reporting that Jay Nixon is launching another selective investigation into complaints of violations of Missouri’s Sunshine law by the Normandy Fire Protection District. The district is located in the suburbs of St. Louis.
This latest investigation comes on the heels of the “independent” investigation Nixon recently launched against the governor concerning deleted emails. The investigation involving the district and their St. Louis attorney Elbert Walton (a former Democratic state legislator who once lowered his pants on the House floor to make a point) is surprising to say the least, especially after Nixon worked so hard to get back in the good graces of the African American community after they soundly rejected him in his bid against Sen. Bond in 1998.
African American Democrats will have many questions, including why is Elbert Walton and the Normandy Fire Protection District worthy of an investigation but Jackson County Legislators who violated Missouri Sunshine laws by doctoring official minutes of illegally closed meetings gets a pass?
