KMOV News 4 Investigates: Daily Briefing:
So what did you do with your Friday night? A fella by the name of Brett Darrow spent a good chunk of it driving around in his Nissan Maxima, running a radar detector and recording video from a camera mounted over his shoulder.
Why would he want to do that? Brett Darrow, it seems, likes to keep tabs on the police. More to the point… he likes to catch police who overstep their authority.
For Darrow, Friday night was some pretty good fishin’. According to a website that calls itself “a journal of the politics of driving,” Darrow pulled into a commuter parking lot in an unincorporated part of St. Louis county about 2 a.m. on Saturday.
The only other car in the lot was a St. George police cruiser driven by a man who first identified himself as “Kuehnlein” and later as “Sgt. Kuehnlein.” A check of state records confirms St. George police does employ a Sgt. James E. Kuehnlein, Jr.
Darrow parked his car and was soon confronted by Sgt. Kuehnlein. Read more…
