Local peace activists gear up for national Veterans for Peace convention Aug. 15-19 in St. Louis

While Democrats and Republicans in Congress bicker over dollar amounts and a timeline to end the war in Iraq, some local citizens with Veterans for Peace (VFP) already have a solution: bring troops home now.
Founded in 1985, VFP is a non-profit educational and humanitarian organization. Its annual national convention will be held in downtown St. Louis this year from Aug. 15 to 19 at the Holiday Inn Select at 811 N. 9th Street.
The four-day affair will bring together members from 113 VFP chapters and other organizations. Politicians will be on hand, including presidential hopeful U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich. Also in attendance will be experts on a variety of subjects, veterans and activists. Read more…
