Kay Barnes claimed rural, suburban roots when she brought her congressional campaign to Blue Springs Tuesday night.
The 6th District congressional candidate and former mayor of Kansas City was quick to point out that her formative years, and even some beyond, were not spent in a big city.
“One of the things they’ve already begun to say is I’m a big city mayor who doesn’t know anything about the rest of the area,” she told a crowd of about 45 people about her opponent, incumbent Congressman Sam Graves, a Republican. She spoke at the monthly meeting of the Democrats 21st Century. “I spent a lot of time when I was growing up and into adulthood in the rural parts of the sixth district.” Read more…
