Emanual Clever II, U. S. Congressman for the Fifth District of Missouri, met with Hispanic and African American leaders last week to talk with them about a subject that is near and dear to his heart: The coming of America’s second industrial revolution. Cleaver believes that America’s response to the challenges posed by global warming – such as the need to curtail greenhouse gases and develop alternative energy sources – will result in a surge of ingenuity and creativity that will generate new jobs and new wealth throughout the country. He wants people of color to be ready to take advantage of the opportunities this new era will bring.
Cleaver is a member of U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. “Protecting and preserving our global environment is something I have been passionate about for years,” Cleaver said. “For decades, we have created and relied on energy sources which have made our nation close to becoming absolutely dependent on foreign oil and have put our planet in real danger.” Read more…
