It was part of a piece on Midwest congressional races:
Missouri’s 6th (Northwest — St. Joseph, part of Kansas City). Republican Rep. Sam Graves and Democrat Kay Barnes, a recent former mayor of Kansas City, are headed toward an expensive showdown in a district where the Democrats did not seriously compete in recent election cycles. Barnes, who left her local office earlier this year, raised $330,000 in the reporting period, her first as an active House candidate. Graves, who is seeking a fifth House term, raised $288,000 in the second quarter and $423,000 since the beginning of this year, and began July with $343,000 in his campaign account — not much more than Barnes’ $316,000 cash on hand.
This race might be a bit more entertaining than I thought. Barnes will have to spend way more money than Graves will, so she’s at a huge disadvantage however her numbers are impressive for her.
