Whatever happened to the concept on “no taxation without representation.”

Howard County Assessor George Frink announced this week that the State Tax Commission has ordered his office to raise his 2007 assessments of all property in the county, particularly commercial property.
Frink said the study found that the assessed valuation of commercial property in the county was 27.97 percent of fair market value, when the state standard is 32 percent.
“That appears to be only 4 percent low,” Frink said in a press release. “But it takes more than 14 percent (adjustment) to obtain the 32 percentage level.” Read more…
