Bartle Time?
Sen. Matt Bartle, R-Lee’s Summit, has been rather ambiguous about his plans for next year. But a recent filing with the Missouri Ethics Commission could provide a hint.
Bartle – who was born and raised in Columbia before moving on to the Kansas City area – turned in papers to raise money for a “statewide” bid in 2008. Statewide office could include Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Secretary of State or Attorney General.
Over the past couple of years, Bartle has stoked his statewide profile with a relative crusade against embryonic stem cell research and somatic cell nuclear transfer. He sponsored a resolution that would have allowed voters to decide whether to effectively overturn Amendment 2. Read more…
