Merger, What Merger?

Polls have consistently told us over the years that city and county voters are fiercely opposed to a merger between the two. Is this a backdoor way to have the public accept a merger proposal in the future?

2011:

“This is a regional economy, it’s not a city economy and a county economy,” Slay recently told KMOX News. How soon might those development efforts be under the same roof? “As soon as possible, as far as I’m concerned.”

2010:

“We need to (merge),” Dooley said. “The chances now are better than before but the city officials of St. Louis are not all on the same page on this issue because they have constituencies that they answer to.

“If it takes the City of St. Louis reentering St. Louis County to make us globally competitve….that’s what I’m all About...
