Welcome to the future of government run healthcare! In a letter to veterans secretary Eric Senseki, Congressman Akin tells a  shocking tale of how veterans in his district are actually fearful of receiving care at the controversial government hospital:

Thank God Republicans are back in control of the House! Hopefully Mr Akin, who is the the new Chairman of the Sea Power and Projection Forces Committee, can get something done. We know how useless Rusty Carnahan has been:

Carnahan’s frustration has mounted with his apparent inability to shake up management at the hospital, a sentiment shared by the ranking Democrat on the House Veterans committee, who toured Cochran earlier this year. Read more…

    Congressman Akin,
I had the pleasure of saying the pledge of alligiance with your daughter at the Constitutional Coalition conference Jan 27-29. My husband is a Veteran and depends on the VA for medical needs. When he goes to Cochran I can tell he’d rather have a tooth pulled. I have never gone to either facility with him, he tells me not to come because I might catch something. Why do our Veterans get this kind of treatment? Obama spends money on travel and Czar’s w/ no budget whatsoever. While the Veterans and the medical personnell suffer with horrible surroundings. Isn’t there anything we can do to get this updated, clean, sanitary and orderly? Their system is very good, better than anything in the civilian system. If my husband goes to any doctor at either VA hospital they pull up his information on the computer and it shows everything – his medical history, mediction he’s taking — everything. His main doctor Dr. Nyack is wonderful. She has no time for chit-chat because of the patients waiting, but she is professional and thorough. I wish we could make the facilities better, let me know if I can help.
