“The Citizen” Makes Debut in February

January 3rd, 2011 by mopns · No Comments

The Missouri Political News Service has learned about a new print publication that will be debuting throughout Kansas City on February 1, 2011. It will be a monthly paper called “The Citizen” that will be a free paper distributed at coffee shops and city halls (like “The Pitch” or “Ink”). Sources are telling us that it will have roughly a 15,000 print run, and will be distributed on both sides of the state line (same version on both sides). The publisher is Greg Brooks, a PR and long-time media guy. Brooks owns a company called the West Third Group. You can view a sample/mock version of the paper by clicking here. The permanent web site will be here:

Our understanding is that the paper will be conservative and will be most heavily focused on good-government issues (waste, corruption, accountability, rule of law), but will be friendly to social conservative issues. The Missouri Record’s Patrick Tuohey will be writing a monthly column dedicated to Missouri politics.
