Republican 1st District Congressional Candidate Calls Out NAACP

Republican first congressional district and Move-On-Up.org member Martin Baker calls out the NAACP.

By Martin D. Baker

When it was first brought to my attention that the NAACP had used their bully pulpit to condemn the Tea Party movement in one of its first acts of its national convention, branding those who associate themselves with it as racist, I laughed at the absolute duplicity of it. I asked myself, “at what point did the Tea Party movement become such a threat to the coffers of the NAACP that they felt the need to fire a broadside salvo against them?” Has what was once a historical organization that spearheaded the advancement of civil rights become a faction of jealous rage?” but most importantly I asked once question…“WHO DESIGNATED THE NAACP AS THE ARBITERS OF ALL THAT COULD BE DEEMED RACIST RATHER INDIVIDUALLY OR COLLECTIVELY?”

As a Black American who has proudly spoken at Tea Party events over the past two years, I am rather dismayed to hear that I am a racist, but I guess I must thank those great leaders for informing me of this egregious error in judgement that I have wrought upon my fellow Black peers. Without the NAACP letting me know that by virtue of me speaking on decreasing the role of government, espousing personal freedom, and speaking on the values of family and sanctity of life, that I literally had become an agent provocateur for a racist organization that is inciting people to rise up and commit all sorts of calumny and evil upon my own race. So With all that in mind, I wish to formally submit the following statement with my new found knowledge.

To the leadership of the Local, State and National offices of the NAACP

Sirs:

I must at this moment take a stand against your acidic statements regarding the Tea Party movement and its membership. Not only are your views off base and wrong, they truly do not advance a dialogue to meet in the middle and address common issues that will advance the causes of freedom and justice here in our great country. I am a proud former speaker at Tea Party events in my hometown of Sikeston, Missouri and never once did I feel unwelcome nor as an outcast – which is the feeling that a black person should get if surrounded by rabid racists as you perceive the Tea Party groups to be. I challenge any of you to actually attend a Tea Party or better yet, I invite you to SPEAK at a Tea Party event. I can say with a high degree of certainty that you esteemed ladies and gentlemen would have a better chance to be invited to speak there than you would invite a peer of yours from the tea party to refute those statements at a gathered convention of your membership. The time for this acidic rhetoric must end! If you wish to continue a legitimate pursuit of equality and justice for all, you are not advancing those gains by branding an entire group as racist. I believe the term would be STEREOTYPING…a phrase we as Black Americans are quite familiar with.

I personally take offense at your statements because that also affects me by virtue of my affiliation with these patriots. In my current Congressional campaign in Missouri’s First District, I attempt to break down walls of ignorance and intolerance that have been built up by peoples of many parties and races, yet I refuse to use a broad stroke and condemn an entire group, organization, or club as the NAACP has done in this fashion. I implore you to retract this statement in a most expeditious manner and once again take your place as a legitimate force for equality and racial justice in America, instead of the group that seems to seek the media’s spotlight by screaming racist at every turn while taking a blind eye to true injustices that we could discuss at length – involving black on black crimes where black Republicans/Conservatives are treated with disdain – or in the case of Ken Gladney here in St. Louis, with violence. Yet in that case, you were rather silent. But today you wish to pillory that group that did stand with Mr Gladney when his racial peers chose not to.

I ask each one of you in a leadership role with the NAACP and your auxiliaries to truly look at the groups you put the racist label on and follow the advice of former president Ronald Reagan to “trust but verify”. Check your facts before you condemn a group and if you choose to pass judgement, please also be prepared to have that same judgement passed on you which of course continues the cycle of distrust and anger which will never advance mutual causes to advance freedom in America.

Respectfully Submitted,

Martin D Baker
Republican Candidate United States Congress
Missouri First District

A brave man who needs our support and prayers. It is interesting that most African Americans share the family values of the GOP voters but still vote democratic because they think the GOP is dominated by rich corporate interests…which it is …but the DNC is even more dominated by the Forture 500 idle rich. In the Tea Party we are working to change all that in both parties. Come join in the cause for all of us.

Amen to both Martin Baker and Jim Martin. I dropped my support of the NAACP in the 90s when they became a rabid racist group. Last year, when KC mayor, Mark Funkhouser, appointed an 80 year old gardening grandmother to a post on the Parks and Recreation Board, LULAC, MALDEF, La Raza and the NAACP became furious when it became known that she belonged to the Minutemen. These racist organizations immediately, with the support of the racist Democratic Party and councilmen began stalking her, threatening her and calling for her removal. The NAACP even threatened to pull their national event from Kansas City. I wish they would have because I hate having racist organizations use our city. This shows the true color of the NAACP because, like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright and State Rep. Emmauel Cleaver, non who are worthy of the title reverend, they play the race card whenever they can and it is old and tiresome. They are no longer in the betterment of society, but calling anyone who disagrees with them a racist. Time they looked in the mirror to see the real racists.

    Preach it, brother!

We here in the fifth district should have such clarity and reason, yet, alas… we’re stuck with Mr. Cleaver. But hopefully not for long! VOTE TURK

Good luck to you in your quest for that 1st congressional seat.

I’ll simply leave everyone with this: Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman had a most scathing rebuke to the race baiters and racialists – stop it!

    NAACP ATTACKS TEA-PARTY PROTESTERS
Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels said, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” Now, the NAACP is calling the patriotic Tea-Party protesters RACISTS. They are trying to silence anyone who opposes Obama’s policies by demonizing them.

In Washington D.C. several black Democrat representatives claimed they were called the N-word while walking through the crowd prior to the healthcare vote. They purposely walked through the crowd hoping something would happen. When nothing happened, they made the false claim of being called the N-word. They are LIARS! Because they taped the whole walk. If they had anyone on the tape calling them the N-word it would be looped over and over again by the so-call Main-Stream Media. Instead, the lies are being perpetuated by the media.

Ben Jealous of the NAACP stated Tea-Partiers were carrying signs with slogans to lynch President Obama and lynch Eric Holder. Another LIE. If there were such signs the Secret Service would have been involved.

The Obama Administration’s Justice Department, led by Eric Holder refused to prosecute members of the New Black Panther Party for voter intimidation. J. Christian Adams, who resigned from the Justice Department, stated the Justice Department dropped the case for racial reasons. Adams claims the administration has failed to prosecute non-whites when it comes to voting intimidation cases. Barack Hussein Obama is a divisive and polarizing figure, who is tearing this country apart. So, who are the REAL RACISTS?

The Tea-Party protesters are patriots exercising their First Amendment Rights and are opposed to Obama’s vision of transforming America. It is a good thing there are alternate sources of information out there to get the TRUTH.

Do you think the NAACP has reached the end of its usefulness? I believe it came to that drop off point a while ago, but perhaps this current statement has cause it to become so ludicrous that others cannot make ANY excuse to support such an organization.

    Mr. Baker,
Good luck in your campaign. You sound like a true patriot. I applaud your convictions on taking a stand for honesty, integrity, justice and equality. I have attended a couple of Tea Parties and found the crowds to be informed and concerned patriotic citizens. Not one person carried an objectionable sign or acted unruly. Keep up the good work.
    Sincerely, Theresa Gray

The words are fine and good, but where was your outrage when tea party attendees were holding such vile signs during rallys depicting racist and aweful images and slogans about the President? I do believe in the things you say but I also believe that when you see wrong you should speak out about it, not matter what position you run for. You as a Black tea party supporter should have taken the opportunity to speak out against those attendees or some of the cruel things said by a few of those attending the events. I do not agree with everything POTUS does but I do respect him for being POTUS, just as I did of Bush. Sitting back silent when you see wrong is not the way either.

Lady with a Voice…we in the St Louis Tea Party Coalition make it a point to call out those even in our ranks who use that same sort of divisiveness. It doesnt advance the cause of freedom nor does it invite a mutual respect of ideals and principles. When I personally see those who would even consider it, I do strongly correct them. Wether the person occupying the office of President is from my party or not, he is still the leader of my nation and as such has my respect. I will never be silent when i see wrong but I will still defend my nation and my tea party alliances
