The rift among House Republicans has reached the boiling point, with about a dozen Republicans so angry that they approached Democratic leaders about trying to dump Speaker Rod Jetton.

Some 13 Republicans later approached Democratic leader Paul LeVota to determine whether Democrats would support a coup against Jetton. LeVota, an Independence Democrat, supposedly made no promises. But insiders said that Democrats would support such a move only if they maintained veto power over Jetton’s replacement.

Jetton hasn’t been available for comment on all the foment within the Republican caucus. Read more…
