Inside sources have told MOPNS that one of the factors for Van Eaton not running for Congress (or accepting the Hulshof campaign manager position) was because of his abuse of taxpayer and special interest trips he had taken as a staffer for Senator Kit Bond.

These trips - one to New Orleans and another to Asia - are some examples of JVE’s travel around the country and world that would not work well in a GOP primary where voters have a high disdain for junkets taken by Members of Congress let alone staffers. We revealed yesterday that van Eaton was asked to manage the Hukshof for Governor campaign. The insider told us that JVE realized his trips would have been a drag on the Hulshof campaign.
