The Missouri Political News Service has learned that Governor Matt Blunt will veto HB 327 which provided increased economic development aide to new and emerging Missouri companies. The bill passed overwhelmingly in both the House and the Senate.
MOPNS has also learned that several of HB 327’s opponents wrote Governor Blunt letters – at his office’s request – asking him to veto the legislation. They included several professional sports franchises (The Chiefs and Royals were specifically mentioned) who didn’t like the ticket scalping provision in the bill. They also included several county commissioners who presumably did not like the impact the bill would have on their counties. The Missouri Political News Service will continue to investigate.
