Who Will It Be?

From The Columbia Tribune:

The University of Missouri Board of Curators is gathering for the next two days in a meeting that might determine the next president of the four-campus system.

The Associated Press, quoting interim president Gordon Lamb, said today a decision was likely by tomorrow.

Nobody knows for sure who will emerge as the top pick for the nine-member body, which isn’t publicly confirming the identity of any of the candidates or anything else about the search.

The Tribune reported last week that possibilities include former plastics executive Terry Sutter of New Jersey; U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof of Columbia; and bond fund executive William Thompson of California.

Gov. Matt Blunt let it be known yesterday that Hulshof, a fellow Republican who has confirmed he is a candidate, would be a “fantastic” selection. “I’m very thrilled that he has placed his name forward as somebody that might be willing to take on those responsibilities,”

You can bet there’s some back room deals going on in this deal. Gov. Blunt will show how much political power he really has if Hulshoff is actually the pick.
